Chronic encephalitis….Never ever would I have guessed this…I wonder why mostly young men get this? I know females have it also but the preponderance of males and the hereditary factor they told us about for years. What causes the chronic encephalitis??? I wonder if some diseases require higher doses of niacin than others and over a longer time frame? I had a young patient (18yo male) that was diagnosed with this. He was going to school to become a nurse when he found out. His coping skill to bear this horrendous diagnosis was to run and run and run…everyday he ran until he could run no longer. I would have given a lot to know niacin could have so easily have helped him then. It is heartbreaking.
