As many of you know, GPR109A (encoded by Niacr1) is a receptor for Niacin.

“Antibiotic treatment reduces Treg cell numbers in colon (Atarashi et al., 2011; Smith et al., 2013). We tested whether niacin induces Treg cells in antibiotic-treated mice in vivo. Compared to control mice, antibiotic-treated WT mice had fewer Treg cells in colon (Figures 2F and S2G).

Niacr1-/- means they’re completely genetically silenced of the niacin receptor, GPR109A .. so yes niacin won’t do anything beneficial
