L-Tryptophan supplementation regulating immunity
”Trp supplementation in piglets markedly enhances alpha diversity and althers beta diversity of the intestinal microbiome.
Trp administration decreases the abundance of opportunistic pathogens (e.g., Clostridium sensu stricto) and increases the abundance of Trp-metabolizing bacteria (e.g., Lactobacillus).
Our recent experiments also verify that dietary supplementation with 0.2–0.4% Trp raises the level of secretory Ig A (sIgA) as well as mRNA levels for porcine β-defensin (pBD) 2 and 3 in the jejunum of piglets.”

Sounds like GPR109A eh?
“Confronting LPS-induced TJ injury, dietary Trp supplementation inhibits the NF-κB-myosin light-chain kinase signaling pathway and activates the extracellular regulated protein kinase (ERK) 1/2-mitogen-activated protein pathway, which restores the intestinal barrier integrity.”
