^ Unmistakably tinnitus looks to be a result of inflammation overwhelming through these inner ear areas over aging and/or exposure to noise (which we become more sensitive to over aging), along with exposure to toxic agents such as very toxic prescription drugs, whether you take them or not, from the environment (with more actually purposefully taking, we get more shed into the environment and thus us), and/or purposefully taken as “medications” as so:
“Six proposed COVID‐19 therapeutics were identified as possessing ototoxic side effects including chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine, azithromycin, lopinavir‐ritonavir, interferon, ribavirin, and ivermectin.”
“Many previously or currently used COVID‐19 therapeutics have known ototoxicity including antimalarials, macrolide antibiotics, immunomodulatory agents, and antiviral therapies. Ototoxicity refers to drugs that cause functional impairment or cellular damage to tissues of the inner ear including both the cochlear and vestibular system, often manifesting as hearing loss, tinnitus or disequilibrium.”

With that, I expect the flush niacin + n-acetyl-l-glutamine to intervene here quite causally as well, as always, and for successful, curative results. However, give it a bit of time to manifest fully as well as some good rest. Try not to focus on if you are going to have a tinnitus-like feeling incoming per se, when it often occurs for many, before bed each night forward. Within a week or two, you may just have realized that you do not have it anymore after you realize you stopped thinking about having it. This is usually how it goes away for people who have had niacin pretty much cure it within a week or two, albeit these people were not as glutamine-deprived, particularly in these cells, explaining their success with niacin solo. Nonetheless, please do not worry. Let it come. We got the proper glutamine coming now.

So I have tinnitus as well which was not caused by injury as I’ve had it for over 20 years to varying degrees… I did notice that it did seem to spike a bit on the glutamine over the last couple months since I started. However, the AceG seems to be working differently now as I’ve noticed a significant reduction in the last couple days since introducing AceG.

Very nice! These issues with free l-glutamine were from it not being there with niacin given free l-glutamine’s heat lability and probably also because n-acetyl-l-glutamine IS the meant glutamine to supplement too… curious – did you find any specific dosing level of flush niacin + l-acetyl-l-glutamine that has been the call-it “sweet spot” for you yet?

I am dosing at 1N/1.5AceG for now and I’m good with it so far only 3 days in. But yeah! No tinnitus spikes or any insufferable ringing all day today.
I’m going to stay at this dose until I “feel” like I might want/ need more😊

Excellent! So at least for some, niacin and with the acetylated form, glutamine, are now packing a mighty punch

Dr. Kats, In reading through your insights in this forum regarding tinnitus, as well as the protocols for helping to reduce symptoms, I wonder whether new research has emerged regarding the use of Niacin/Vitamin C in helping to eliminate tinnitus (or should we sufferers continue with Niacin/NAG). I came down with pulsatile tinnitus (sounds of heart beat) when dosing with HCQ for a second bout of covid prior to discovering your groundbreaking research into the attenuating effects of Niacin for covid infections, so I can personally attest to the toxic effects of at least this drug you had listed resulting in tinnitus.

Please forget about NAG … and I am not sure what “Niacin” you are referring to, if it is coming from PureBunk like the NAG was… it is the wisest decision you have ever made in your life you will see getting the real niacin and vitamin C that I am packing now… It is finally real niacin and niacin’s wife (what we needed the whole time with it, which was NOT NAG, but NAG helped us get closer, just like everything else we had tried out to arrive at last to vitamin C).
Yes, there were several articles posted over COVID showing a strong association of HCQ use and tinnitus incidence occurring. Certainly the toxicity can lead to this, especially where a high demand of both nicotinic and ascorbic acids are dynamically necessary to maintain the hearing anatomy and electric conduct. Not to worry though, as nicotinic and ascorbic acids that you will get are established mechanistically to overcome this. Niacin solo was not equipped enough for many who had it the worst coming in, however, over time I did observe how it solo quelled the tinnitus eventually. What has been missing especially in this hearing arena to most efficiently restore the anatomy, current, and function is alongside with niacin, the vitamin C that was (especially by HCQ) at a very fast rate depleted and more and more as the initial niacin requirement was not met sufficiently forward (which can’t be met without C at a certain point).
So all in all, I am extremely confident that you are going to get rid of your tinnitus and most likely restore back your entire hearing and the actual tissue/connections there back to even better than before. After I am done today with boxes, I can pick up where I left off here and trace down some relevant research + clinical papers on this very topic for you too. Thanks!

“Guggenheim [11] referring briefly to Ménière’s syndrome, cited the finding of Somyngi that in allergic states there is depletion of potassium salts in the cells and increase of these salts in the body fluid and that the depletion is corrected through administration of potassium and insulin. He also mentioned a case in which petechial hemorrhages and presence of blood in urine and stool suggested the possibility that permeability of the stria vascularis, increased through deficiency of ascorbic acid, was a cause of Ménière’s disease. He stated further that the most important agent in the prevention of neural degeneration in Ménière’s disease is the vitamin complex, i. e., thiamine and nicotinic acid.
Atkinson [12] contributed a thorough and satisfactory review of the subject. He concluded that allergy and histamine sensitivity accounted for 20 per cent of his cases and that the remaining 80 per cent, cases in which the patient was nonsensitive, were related to lack of nicotinic acid. In 69 of 108 cases data were available for analysis. Relief of vertigo was reported in 32 cases. He considered the disease the result of a constriction of the vascular supply. In a letter dated Feb. 14, 1944, he wrote:
‘I have just completed another paper on my results in 110 patients treated with nicotinic acid. In this series the tinnitus was removed entirely in 13 cases (12 per cent) and improved in 42 (40 per cent). Thus, in half the cases one can achieve an appreciable improvement in this symptom.’

Adams [14] related deficiency of ascorbic acid to asthenia and Ménière’s disease, in both of which there are apt to be autonomie imbalance and vasomotor disturbances. He observed several cases in which ascorbic acid was absent from the urine, probably because of lack of this vitamin in the diet, and in which the condition was improved or entirely relieved by an increased intake of fruit and food containing ascorbic acid. He referred to O’Dell’s suggestion that lack of this vitamin was a frequent cause of Ménière’s syndrome. In several cases Adams used some of the factors of the B complex [i.e., nicotinic acid] in addition to ascorbic acid.

Ménière’s disease is a function of the aging process. Talbott and associates [15] in a tabulation of 33 cases, showed that the patients were all 50 years old or older. In my studies, all the patients with eighth nerve deafness who were 40 years of age and over showed definite loss of high tones, severe in most of them. In all the cases the urine showed nicotinic acid definitely low; in half the cases it showed porphyrin increased. When the eyes were checked for dark adaptation by Dr. Evelyn Blanchard with her ‘reginometer,’ the results were out of line in nearly all cases. Many of the patients were 60 years of age and over. It should not be forgotten that the aging process frequently begins in early childhood and not infrequently before birth. Stieglitz [16] made the comment that premature development of the changes of senescence in one or more organs might well be caused by particular dietary deficiencies of the parents and that the geriatric, anatomic and functional changes of the thyroid, pituitary and adrenal glands may be influenced by heredity, by the nutrition of the parents at the time of conception and by the nutrition of the mother before and after birth. The far reaching effect of nicotinic acid deficiency, for instance, has been depicted graphically by Frostig and Spies [17] and others.”

The experimental dog, Benny, of Morgan and Simms [18] (fig. 1) shows an aging process induced by dietary measures that may have a definite analogy to that of human life. At the age of 6 weeks this dog was restricted to a diet deficient in nicotinic acid and some other unknown. He showed considerable irregularity of gait, especially in the hindlegs, suggesting some disturbance of the vestibular apparatus. The aging process was evidenced by changes of posture, increasing grayness of hair, increasing ptosis of belly muscles and finally inability to stand erect. The dog died at the age of only 3 years; the average life span of a cocker spaniel varies from 8 to 12 years. Inasmuch as this dog’s diet was normal except for the lack of nicotinic acid and some other unknown, it seems obvious that the aging appearance and the pathologic changes are related to the missing factors. The autopsy report showed that the principal organ involved was the adrenal cortex.
