Dmitry, I have been on your protocol since end of July 2021. I am currently taking 400mg R Lipoic Acid, 1 gram of Niacin along with B supreme, Beef Liver, phosphatidylcholine, selenium, MK7 and carnitine (also magnesium glycinate) I feel fine…do I need to add methionine? Thank you for your insights.

      • I think it won’t hurt like an up to 2 g boost once or twice with lipoic, niacin .. just to make sure it isn’t lacking. Kind of evaluate how you feel after a few doses. Certainly as we progress forward over life and don’t recoup, we compound a deficiency. It’s def worth evaluating for a few days with the other solid cofactors like choline complex. TMG (some like DMG on top too), and l-serine.

        • Thanks Dmitry…will try the methionine

          • Once its sufficiency is restored after a boost (even just to make sure), it’s not needed as much/often… but certainly lower/normal doses here and there (every 3 days or so).. this applies really to all the components to help restore the l-methionine.. and the R-lipoic acid’s need forward too. The niacin and alongside + subsequently further, methionine deficiency over the continued/compounded niacin insufficiency thereafter, as well as the comprehensive disruptions downstream that last and evolve deeper, seem to explain what we metabolically experience into and further over disease/disability/aging. All the components provided now give the needed metabolic oomph to get back to a state that is able to metabolically function with provided resources, and not have to experience the decay away from that presentation. Without restoring l-methionine our life seems to be a downhill spiral into trying to make l-methionine to make SAMe (which is used up to clear excess niacinamide left-over waiting for its turn to make more salvage NAD+ in emergency to the lack of de novo and niacin to make NAD+ as well before … aka disease pathology). Methionine is being made in salvage too, as there is growingly not enough then from diet (as an essential / THE essential) amino acid that must be exogenously administered to support the increased demand for the SAMe, and for meanwhile, more glutathione to quell these oxidative environments best. Without the l-methionine finally recouped to re-establish a homeostatic flux through all this (even if all other components are there), it will never be re-established. Once it is though through what has to be supplementation, the ability for everything downstream in terms of what the protocol led up to now is recouped (R-LA + niacin + melatonin synthesis in pineal gland (and ability to re-enrich with relevant levels of supplementation to comfort)).

Once everything then is fully clicking, we won’t need as much / often as before, but just want to make sure we get over the hump as we down-titrate into whatever comfortable levels but really not as often (maybe just once every 1-3 days as we go forward to make sure we’re recouped going forward and keeping niacin receptor modulated) or high of dose of (with niacin at least 500-1000 mg dose just to make sure it is activating its receptors through the body). The higher doses of niacin (and really all other components, but niacin you kind of keep along to fine-tune each time, just not needing as much) are for hitting–if needed–when its ability to be signaled via its receptor expression and thereafter actions that ensue through the activation-binding, expedite clearance of gunk/inflammation. Going forward, everything kind of just comes together to knowing which/how often/how much of each you need… just to make sure you are in a point to where everything is re-set now, yes – the l-methionine is certainly integral, if not paramount (in relay to ultimately, niacin) to restore (and evaluate to make sure it is restored / not deficient) … from there, of course, lay off / here and there.

        • Thank you Dmitry for your comprehensive answer.  I’m just not sure how to tell when my methionine is sufficient.  Thanks again for all you do.
